Kiters can enjoy both classes (Blue Hunter, Yellow RK).

Hunters self healing can be surprisingly decent but not as strong.īoth classes have helpful damage absorbing bubbles. RK damage is strong, not the strongest, with very strong self healing when necessary. Often times you can bubble (if necessary), run around like a Champ gathering mobs (if necessary), drop the Runestone then move onto the next targets(s). RKs can handle single targets and AOE mobs with ease once the Yellow runestone is unlocked, which happens early on. Then root, run away and shoot, by the time the mobs reach you the root is available again. An aside, if the mobs are melee put a point into the Red trait that turns the AOE melee hitter into a root. That is because they can struggle with tough ranged AOE opponents until they can put points into multiple trees to obtain multiple AOE hitters.

Hunters take longer to reach the same level of ease in my view. I haven't played the red line but Solitary Thunder is a lot of fun, and healer RKs can be great too IMO. So Hunters have three separate types of fast-travel skills to get around, besides their high damage output-they are, after all, a pure DPS class unlike RKs. These, like the Hunter teleports (Wayfaring) have no cooldowns, which is unlike the default milestone skills. Hunters also have a separate milestone-type travel skill, Return to Camp, which lets them bind the skill to one of the many Hunter campsites throughout the world. You get to take group members along with you so that's handy if you ever join a fellowship. Hunters also have their many teleports which they get/earn along their leveling path, which makes zipping around the world very convenient. "Desperate Flight" is a nice Hunter oh-shit-button to hit when out in the world and in trouble-teleports to you to the nearest graveyard on a 30m cooldown. Also, hunters benefit somewhat from their Agility defensively, as it grants them Evasion (this can be seen in more detail mousing over the character sheet stats and reading the tooltips.) RKs have a heal-over-time that can be used anytime but it changes your Battle Attunement, so you gotta get a grip on that mechanic I play the kiter Solitary Thunder RK spec and it's nice and mobile, but compared to the kiting Hunter there's a bit less room for error due to the lower base mitigation a light armor class affords. Based on my experience mostly of course.įirst you gotta consider the Light gear that RKs can wear, vs. I would say RK and Hunter are pretty close in terms of allowing a solo player to cruise at their own speed, but Hunter may come out ahead for a couple of reasons.
